About
About My Teaching
I am an experienced tutor teaching students from Primary to Junior College (JC) level, including students preparing for IGCSE and other school examinations. I teach Mathematics, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Tamil, adapting my lessons to suit each student's academic level, learning needs and goals.
I work with students who want to strengthen their fundamentals, improve their grades, prepare for examinations, or gain confidence in subjects they find challenging.
How I Run My Lessons
My lessons are conducted online in an interactive and student-centred manner. I first identify the student's strengths and areas that need improvement, then structure the lesson accordingly.
I explain concepts clearly and systematically, using simple examples before progressing to more challenging questions. I encourage students to participate actively, ask questions and explain their reasoning rather than simply memorising answers.
For IGCSE and JC students, lessons can include syllabus-based teaching, detailed concept revision, examination-style questions, past-paper practice and examination techniques. I focus on helping students understand how to approach different question types, structure answers correctly, identify key information and manage their examination time effectively.
For Primary and younger students, I use age-appropriate explanations and engaging activities to make lessons easier to understand and maintain their interest. I place particular emphasis on building strong fundamentals, as these form the foundation for future academic success.
A typical lesson may include revision of previously learned material, introduction of a new concept, guided practice, independent problem-solving and a short recap. I also use regular questioning and revision to improve long-term retention.
What Students Can Expect
Students can expect a structured, supportive and personalised learning experience. My goal is to help students become confident and independent learners rather than relying completely on their tutor.
With regular lessons and consistent practice, students can expect to:
• Strengthen their subject fundamentals
• Understand difficult concepts more clearly
• Improve problem-solving and application skills
• Become more confident in answering questions independently
• Identify and improve weak areas
• Develop effective examination techniques
• Improve accuracy and reduce careless mistakes
• Develop better revision and study habits
• Work towards improved school and examination performance
I understand that every student learns at a different pace. Therefore, I adjust my teaching style, pace, explanations and level of practice according to the individual student's needs.
I create a comfortable environment where students can ask questions freely and learn from their mistakes. I believe mistakes are an important part of learning and help identify areas that require further attention.
My Teaching Goal
My goal is to help every student progress from “I don't understand this” to “I can solve this independently.” I focus on developing genuine understanding, confidence and consistency so students are well prepared for their school examinations, IGCSE or JC studies and future academic challenges.
How lessons work
How I Teach
I follow a structured and personalised approach to help students understand concepts and improve their examination performance.
• Concept-based teaching: I explain each topic clearly from the fundamentals and gradually move to more challenging concepts and questions.
• Interactive lessons: Students are encouraged to ask questions, participate actively and explain their answers so I can identify gaps in understanding.
• Past-paper practice: For examination-level students, I regularly use syllabus-based and past-paper questions to familiarise students with question patterns, mark schemes and examination techniques.
• Weekly homework: Students receive weekly homework based on the topics covered in the lesson. This helps reinforce learning and allows me to monitor their progress.
• Lesson notes: After each session, I provide organised lesson notes covering the important concepts, explanations, formulas and key points discussed during the class. These can be used for revision before tests and examinations.
• Regular revision: Previously covered topics are revisited through questioning and practice to improve retention and reduce forgetting.
• Progress monitoring: I track the student's performance, identify weak areas and adjust upcoming lessons accordingly.
My aim is to ensure that students do not just memorise answers but develop strong conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, confidence and effective examination techniques.
